A-State Wesley recaps the Fall semester

From the Wesley A-State newsletter

People say, “Fall is a reminder that change is beautiful.” As the fall semester of 2024 closes, be assured that God is still doing beautiful things through the changing lives of our students at Arkansas State University.

Our student leadership team:

Fletcher Pearson – President, FUMC Conway

Chloe Peterson – co-Vice-President, Beebe FUMC

and Zoey McGillvray, co-Vice-President, Bald Knob FUMC

Doing phenomenal work!

Began semester learning, praying, and brainstorming at a leadership retreat at Mount Eagle Retreat Center. We were joined by other leaders from other ARUMC Wesley campus ministries. Energizing time!

When the semester started, we were hard at work with recruitment initiatives. We partnered with Cornerstone UMC to provide a frozen treat to the A-State band during band camp, partnered with JFUMC to feed approx. 250 A-State girls involved with sorority recruitment, passed out handouts and assimilated new students into our social media and text group by tabling at the Community Fair and Student Union.

Our Wesley Night was Wednesday nights at 6 pm. This semester we utilized space downtown at Jonesboro First United Methodist Church in their Children and Youth Bldg. Here, with the help of sponsors, we were able to provide our students with a free meal, which we coupled with a worship service.

Beyond that, we did things like visiting several of our local UMC churches on Sunday and lead in their services, had an away game football party, partnered with the catholic student group for a Halloween party, and went bowling at The Social. Fun times!
