Obituary – Bishop Bennie D. Warner

Please pray for the family of Bishop Bennie D. Warner who passed away on October 27.
 
Bishop Bennie D. Warner was elected a UMC bishop in 1973 and served one term as the episcopal leader of the Liberia Annual Conference, as well as Vice-President of the country (elected 1977) until the military coup led by Samuel Doe overthrew the Liberian government on April 12, 1980.  He was attending a Council of Bishops meeting in the U.S. at the time of the coup. Subsequently, he never returned to Liberia but went on to pastor UMC congregations in Oklahoma, New York, and Arkansas, as well as serving as Senior Pastor at St. Paul UMC in Maumelle from 1990 to 1998, and Camden District Superintendent in the Little Rock Conference from 2000-2004 before retiring in 2005.
