How do you want to be treated? Jesus’ words, known as The Golden Rule, simply state: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
Do Unto Others is a grassroots movement launched by Resurrection, a United Methodist Church, to encourage Christians and others to be intentional about treating one another with kindness, even those with whom we disagree. It reminds us that kindness extends into election season. A vote for kindness is a step toward overcoming the polarization in our country through civility and respect.
The Methodist Foundation for Arkansas is supporting the goal of the Arkansas Board of Church and Society to help local churches promote this campaign of peace-building with a grant for custom yard signs to be placed on church campuses, in prominent local spaces, and members’ yards. One side of the sign will feature the campaign slogan, “‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.’ – Jesus,” and the other side will feature the logo and name of the local church.
To expedite this campaign and order signs as election season approaches quickly, please complete and submit the linked form to Derek.Hottle@FastSigns.com by Sept. 3. The Methodist Foundation for Arkansas has set a cap at $15,000 to be distributed among Arkansas churches, especially for those for whom this campaign would be difficult to afford. Please consider how many signs your church can reasonably use effectively to make the strongest community impact for kindness across our state. Churches will be notified when signs are ready for pick up at district offices and other church hubs TBA.
To build on this campaign, Resurrection offers ideas for short-term study on the major themes, a sermon series, a press kit, talking points, prepared social media posts, a promo video, and additional merch at https://campaignforkindness.com/.
