Obituary – Danny Ray Burris

Danny Ray Burris, 78, of Spiro, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, in Fort Smith, AR. He was born on August 4, 1945, in Paris, Arkansas to Dennis Ray and Ila Jean (Henderson) Burris.

He was a retired Supervisor of Quality Control at Whirlpool Corporation and served in the Air National Guard for six years. He was a member of Cavanaugh United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir.

Danny and his wife enjoyed square dancing for nearly fifty years beginning with the Swinging 8s club. Danny was a square dance caller for the Johnson County Twirlers, The Double Ds, the Circle-up Squares, and several others. After retirement he enjoyed golfing, following his Chicago Cubs, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Peggy Primm and a grandchild, Sailor Burris.

He is survived by his wife Patsy (Yates) Burris of the home; a daughter, Denise Ann Burris of Fort Smith; two sons, Robert Alan and wife Kerri (Weiler) Burris of Fort Smith and James Todd and wife Tricia (Chambers) Burris of Conway, AR; six grandchildren, Evan Linker, Alex Linker, Breck Burris, Brittlyn Burris, Alyssa Burris, and Darci Burris; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at Cavanaugh United Methodist Church in Fort Smith on May 3rd, at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
