Obituary – Sharon Vaughn

Sharon Gay Vaughn, Fort Smith, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 14, 2023, at 81. 

Sharon was born April 17, 1942, in Fort Smith to William Lee Vick and Jayne Boozman Vick. She retired from The Yellow Umbrella, Don’s Video, and Avon where she earned numerous Avon President’s Awards for her sales. 

She was a Wesley United Methodist Church member, active in the Young at Heart group, and enjoyed helping with Wesley community outreach activities. She was the recipient of the UMW Special Misson Recognition Award. 

Sharon’s children were her nieces and nephews, with nephews, Todd and Matthew Vick, also being her godsons. She delighted in spoiling them at every opportunity. 

She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law: Bruce and Brenda Vick of Fort Smith: Brian and Betty Vick of Van Buren; sister-in-law; Jackie Reed of Georgetown, Texas; her life-long friend who was like a sister; Jettie Page, and husband Jylain of Greenwood; brothers-in-law; Gary Vaughn of Fort Smith, and Larry Vaughn of Jenny Lind; nieces and nephews: Tammy and Don Gunther; Kristi White; Chris and Brandi Vick; Angela and Michael Johnson; Todd and Carrie Vick; Brandon and Shana Vick; Matthew and Christina Vick; Brandi and Justin Jones; Michael and Tammy Vaughn; Michael and Jennifer Gragg; Tori and Gary Bray; Twenty-four great nieces and nephews; a great-great niece; her Aunt, Pat Echols of Fayetteville; Cousins: John and Kathy Boozman; Bob and Becky Echols; Debbie and Michael Malone; Vickey Boozman; Becky Brambl; and Susan Echols.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 21 years, Marius Vaughn; brother, Bill Vick; nephew Erick Schmidling; cousins, William Sleeper; Fay W. Boozman, III, Dan Brambl, and Jim Echols; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Gail Vaughn; sister-in-law, Debbie Thornberg; sister-in-law, Kathy Vaughn.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Crest and Methodist Senior Living for their loving care of Sharon. 

The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home (201 N 12th St, Fort Smith, AR 72901) on Sunday, October 29 from 2-4 p.m.

Services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, with burial at 1 p.m. at the U. S. National Cemetery, all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. 

Pallbearers will be Chris Vick, Mike Johnson, Todd Vick, Brandon Vick, Matthew Vick, Chandler Johnson and Cole Vick.
