We are saddened by the significant loss of life caused by the ongoing violence in the region [of Israel and Gaza]. Global Ministries has issued a joint statement with the World Methodist Council and the Methodist Church in the United Kingdom, which you can read here. UMCOR is processing a grant for one humanitarian aid partner and is in communication with others to determine how best to deliver desperately needed food and emergency supplies to the many innocent victims of this crisis.
We join with the United Methodist Council of Bishops in calling for prayer and action and with the patriarchs and heads of the churches in Jerusalem in observing a Day of Prayer and Fasting on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. We pray for peace in the Holy Land.
