NLR First UMC Celebrates Blue Sunday

by Laura Turner, Communications Coordinator, NLR FUMC

North Little Rock First United Methodist Church held its first “Blue Sunday” worship service on April 30, donating over 200 stuffed animals to first responders at the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department and the North Little Rock Police Department.

The service culminated in a two-week mission project, sponsored by the NLRFUMC Chancel Choir and coordinated by Music Minister Timothy Tucker, that collected brand new stuffed animals for first responders to give to children in crisis situations. During the service, the stuffed toys were blessed and presented to representatives of the sheriff’s department and police department.

The church also mounted a weeklong social media campaign, posting daily prayers

to its Facebook and Instagram pages to inspire community members to pray for children and families in crisis and those who help them. It’s NLRFUMC’s goal to build this ministry in the coming years to bring comfort and support to children in need.
