West Memphis First UMC Mobile Food Bank serves over 200 families

written by John Friday, Membership and Communications Secretary FUMC

What a weekend at First United Methodist Church West Memphis!

Saturday dawned gray but that didn’t discourage the volunteers at the latest Mobile Food Bank Giveaway. We served over 200 families and they were very appreciative of the blessings. Thanks to the MidSouth Food Bank, as always!

Sunday, April 30, brought our 5th Sunday Potluck with the tasty bbq cooked up by our United Methodist Men. Church members provided all the sides and desserts, and nobody does a potluck like United Methodists! Everything was delicious!

After lunch, there was a petting zoo in recognition of all of the quarters our kids have been bringing each Sunday for Heifer International. The animals were loved by the young and the young-at-heart.

Many thanks to Pastor Carissa and Pastor George for all their hard work this weekend, our men and women for a wonderful potluck, and everyone who enjoyed the petting zoo. A wonderful day of fellowship – FUMC is truly blessed!
