On Saturday, November 15, United Methodists all over Arkansas gathered in Conway for the annual Ingathering event.
Churches dropped off 195 completed buckets, and volunteers helped pack more!
“We had only four kits on the empty shelves when we started the month of November,” said Shelley Lee, ARUMC co-coordinator for Volunteers in Mission and Disaster Response.
It took 40 volunteers a record time of 1 hour and 15 minutes to put together 109 kits, making the total 308 cleaning kits on VIM/DR shelves, which Shelley says is enough for the spring tornado season.
Shelley said they also received 237 hygiene kits, 3 tarps, various bulk supplies, and $690 in donations to either UMCOR or ARUMC Disaster Response.
About 30 churches were represented during Ingathering this year. Thank you to all who volunteered, donated, and helped spread the word!
