Rev. Betsy Singleton Snyder and Gayle McKuin Fiser Celebrate Release of New Book

The Upper Room is celebrating the August release of “New Tricks: How Pet Ministry Can Transform Faith Communities and Change Lives,” written by Rev. Betsy Singleton Snyder, pastor of Pinnacle View UMC, and Gayle McKuin Fiser, community pet ministry coordinator at Pinnacle View UMC.

The book has three parts: how pets make us better people, how pets make us better neighbors, and finally, how to start a pet ministry.

Fiser and Snyder outline how pets teach us spiritual practices by modeling unconditional love, loyalty, and trustworthiness. They share stories and examples of their almost two decades of pet ministry and offer step-by-step guidelines to help faith communities start their own ministry. You can learn more about the PVUMC pet ministry program and how Snyder and Fiser have created a space of community for pet lovers here.

Rev. Adam Hamilton and Dr. Marcia McFee offer beautiful endorsements. All pre-orders receive a 20% discount with code NT 20. The Pinnacle View UMC Pet Ministry team and The Upper Room will both have tables at the Annual Conference in Hot Springs from June 18 – 20, where you can find out more about the book and talk with the authors. Pre-order is available here.
