The Pinnacle View UMC Pet Ministry will hold its annual World Pet Memorial Day Remembrance Gathering on June 10 at 6:00 p.m. in the back garden space of the Pinnacle View UMC campus. This day was established by the American Veterinary Medical Association to remember the pets who are no longer with us.
“The local veterinary community approached PVUMC several years ago to add some sacredness to the day, and the Pet Ministry has sponsored the event ever since,” said Gayle Fiser, Community Pet Ministry Coordinator at Pinnacle View UMC.
This year, Out West Veterinary Urgent Care will be co-sponsoring the event with the PVUMC Pet Ministry. Guests are invited to bring a picture or memento for the Pet Memory Table. Gayle said that in the past, the table has been covered with photos, albums, paintings, and Christmas cards by the time the service starts. “The time together is very healing for pet parents and provides a space to be in community as we say our pets’ names aloud at the end of the service. We hope anyone who has experienced the loss of a pet will attend this special service,” Gayle said. The event draws pet parents from all over Central Arkansas to participate.
