One More Question, an initiative to support local churches in being better neighbors and partners in their communities, started hosting trainings at local churches last fall. The goal is to teach, train, and resource congregations who want to design outreach ministries WITH their communities. There is specific support for smaller churches (those who worship fewer than 200) so that all ARUMC congregations can step out in faith to ask One More Question.
Last fall, Bay UMC hosted one of the trainings. During which, Bay UMC received a grant, sponsored by The Methodist Foundation for Arkansas, that allowed the church to provide a community meal that celebrated their food pantry friends and brought them together with city civil servants. It was a great time for people to sit and visit with each other and make connections moving forward. They also recently hosted their first youth gathering at the church with many in the community attending.
Grand Avenue UMC in Stuttgart attended a One More Question training and used their $750 grant to purchase seasonal gifts that they are hand-delivering to their neighbors. This has helped them form a deeper bond and get to know those in the community better.
There are still plenty of opportunities to attend and receive grants in your district! You must attend an event to be eligible for a grant.
Participating churches are eligible for grant awards of up to $750.
