A message from Bishop Merrill regarding scams

We are aware of a texting scam pretending to be Bishop Laura Merrill. The scammer may request to meet for coffee, send prayers, share uplifting Bible verses, and request money for a grant opportunity.

Bishop Merrill will NOT text, direct message, or reach out to you in any way other than through the verified Arkansas Conference of the UMC communication channels.

As a reminder, ARUMC staff, especially Bishop Merrill, will NEVER ask you to send money or email you for a special favor or request. Do not interact with these emails, texts, or messages. If you are questioning whether it’s a real email from the ARUMC, please call our offices or email communications@arumc.org. Please note that Bishop Merrill will only contact you using her ARUMC email address.

REMINDER: If you ever receive a questionable email, phone call, or text message asking for money, a favor/request, or claiming to have hacked into any of your accounts, please do not click on a link in the message or give any personal information. Please look up the business and contact a secure and legitimate company representative. If you ever have a question about the emails we send, don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.
