ARUMC welcomes Rev. Mark Brechin to Green Team Breakfast at Annual Conference

We are pleased to welcome Rev. Mark Brechin of the Rio Texas Conference, as the keynote for the Green Team Breakfast at Annual Conference. 

Rev. Brechin was born in Beaumont, Texas, and has lived all over the state. His interest in the outdoors was enhanced by his preparation for Eagle Scout (1981) and Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow (1983). 

Mark has a BS in Social Sciences from Southwestern University at Georgetown, Texas (1988) and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin, Texas (1990). Prior to ordained ministry, Mark worked as a Computer industry in the 1990s as a Programmer, Senior Technical Analyst, and Network Systems Analyst. In 2000, he received his MDiv from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary (2000) and became an ordained elder in Full Connection of The United Methodist Church (2003). 

He became a Commissioned Earthkeeper in 2022 and Blessed Ambassador in 2024 and is a member of The United Methodist Creation Justice Movement – Annual Conference Task Force and United Methodist Creation Justice Movement – South Central Jurisdiction Team. He currently serves multiple mid-size rural/county-seat churches in the Rio Texas Annual Conference.
