The postponed 2020 General Conference opened last Tuesday, April 23, 2024, with delegates, Bishops, communicators, musicians, and observers filing into the Charlotte Convention Center.
Each day, volunteers manage the visitor and reserved seating areas, ensuring that only authorized individuals access certain conference sections. They are called “Marshals.”
Some volunteers distribute materials and convey information to bishops, delegates, and key participants throughout the event. These volunteers are named as “Pages.”
Marshals and Pages also serve as liturgists in worship, receiving offerings and guiding celebrants to serving stations in the Opening Worship and Communion.
The Arkansas Conference has two clergy serving in this capacity in Charlotte: Rev. Maxine Allen and Rev. Walt Garrett.
