
Today began with a beautiful morning of worship and offered an afternoon of reports from various General Agencies. The day also included the business of the General Conference that ended with the following votes:
Calendar item 18 (as amended) from petition # 20649, TITLE: COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR NEW EPISCOPAL AREAS AND BISHOPS IN AFRICA:
- Would increase Bishops from 13 to 15 in Africa (already included in the budget)
- Central Conference will set its own episcopal areas
- Passed 645 to 96
Calendar item 19 (as amended) from petition #20650, TITLE: Comprehensive Plan for a New Central Conference and Renaming of Central Conferences in Africa:
- Passed 692 to 43
At the end of the day, the Credentialing Committee shared that out of the 892 total delegates, 89% have been confirmed as being elected from proper elections. There are 775 confirmed delegates. Of these 775 delegates, 487 are from the United States, and 288 are from Central Conferences. Ten persons are still traveling here (all from the Central Conferences), several whose whereabouts are not known, and 60 persons (all Central Conference) are not able to come and have no replacement.
