December 20, 2021: As the early stages of cleanup from the December 10 tornadoes are winding down, the affected cities (Augusta, Leachville, Monette and Trumann) are determining how to proceed with continued debris removal and the ARUMC Disaster Response and Volunteers in Mission teams will respond as needed. They completed vegetation debris removal last week.

Leachville and Trumann have begun holding MARCs (Multi Agency Resource Centers) this week. These MARCs are designated stations where the survivors can come and visit each resourcing agency in one place. Survivors can see what help is available to them along with where they can receive groceries and cleaning items.

The next step in the recovery process will involve volunteer teams being onsite to clean up the damage that the tornado caused to the survivor’s recovered personal belongings. ARUMC Disaster Recovery needs plenty of volunteers for this great act of love.

Case managers will soon begin their work as advocates for the survivors as they restore their lives, and help them find the resources needed to bring some sort of “normalcy” to their world.

If you would like to volunteer for cleaning recovered personal belongings, please contact Sheri Mathews at disaster@arumc.org.

If you would like to support the ARUMC Arkansas Tornado Fund, please donate here.

If you would like to support the global efforts through UMCOR Advance #901670, please donate here.
