Summary
The Minister with Kids and Their Families (K-4/5&6) is responsible for the implementation of all Central Kid’s K-4 / Mid Youth (5-6) objectives, values, and programs, with general oversight of an ongoing, comprehensive program of discipleship for children from kindergarten to 6 Grade at Central United Methodist Church. The Minister with kids and families works under the direction of the Student Ministries Coordinator and the Executive Pastor, Executive Director and Senior Pastor to fulfill the mission of Central UMC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide primary leadership in helping develop an excellent staff, team of volunteers and programs that will help Central Kid’s K-4 / Mid Youth (5-6) participants grow in their faith.
- Facilitate a team approach to ministering to Central Kid’s K-4 / Mid Youth (5-6) participants among staff, volunteers, and parents.
- Participate in the NEXTGEN Council to:
- provide vision and leadership direction for family engagements and shared discipleship trajectory.
- Managing social media seasonally / monthly / weekly post
- Managing weekly communications to participants and grownups
- Oversight of all program development and implementation;
- Responsible for the direction, planning, and implementation of all on-going kid’s programs, such as Sunday school, Club K4/ Mid Youth, and confirmation (in conjunction with the Minister to Youth and Families
- Responsible for providing leadership and direction for all Central Kid’s K-4 / Mid Youth (5-6) special events, including VBS.
- Build relationships with CKM participant’s families, and with leaders within the Central Kid’s K-4 / Mid Youth (5-6) area.
- Provide supervision, vision, and training for Central Kid’s K-4 / Mid Youth (5-6) volunteers.
- Recruit and equip an excellent team of volunteer leaders and teachers.
- Ensure volunteers are registered with Safe Gatherings Database and are updated within their system.
- Coordinate publicity for various programs and events, and for the overall Student Ministries area, including website information, brochures, etc.
- Steward the Central Kid’s K-4 / Mid Youth (5-6) budget.
- Attend weekly CUMC Leadership Team meetings.
- Other duties as assigned and necessary
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will provide direction, support, and supervision to volunteers, interns and other staff when applicable.
Education and/or Experience
A bachelor’s degree is required. A degree and/or training in Christian Education or a related field is highly desirable. A minimum of four years’ experience working with a student ministry group in either a lay or paid staff capacity is necessary.

Computer Equipment And Software Requirements
- Experience in the use of standard office equipment and technology
- Experience in the use of appropriate general technology (worship, A/V, etc)
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to move freely in and out of different group settings (homes, the church facilities, hospitals, businesses). Must have excellent command of English language and grammar, both verbal and written. Must be able to manually operate and use a computer and other standard office equipment. Must be able to clearly hear and understand telephone conversations. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
The employee will work both in an office environment, as well as in public and private venues beyond the church setting. The noise levels in the work environment are usually moderate but may be considered loud at unusual times. A driver’s license is required for travel between church and applicable functions, as well as student trips. Exposure to weather during mission trips, student outings, etc.
