She/He will work closely with pastors, staff, musicians, and production volunteers to create engaging worship experiences that are theologically grounded, musically excellent, and welcoming to people of all generations and stages of faith.

The ideal candidate will have a heart for including others in worship, and will be proficient in keyboard or guitar, a strong vocalist, experienced in contemporary worship leadership, and comfortable using basic worship technology.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a vibrant Christian faith and a heart for helping others participate in worship
  • Brings energy, creativity, humility, and strong relational skills
  • Is an accomplished vocalist and proficient in keyboard or guitar
  • Has experience leading contemporary worship and directing musicians

  • Understands contemporary worship music as well as hymns and liturgy
  • Works effectively with pastors, ministry staff, volunteers, and people of different generations
  • Is proficient with ProPresenter and Planning Center
  • Has practical knowledge of microphones, soundboards, presentation systems, and other basic worship technology
  • Supports the mission, values, and theological direction of The United Methodist Church
  • This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. First United Methodist Church prefers a full-time position but may consider a three-quarter-time arrangement for an exceptional candidate whose availability aligns with the church’s worship schedule. Responsibilities and compensation would be adjusted accordingly.

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in music, worship ministry, theology, or a related field is preferred.
