First United Methodist Church
The director of this ministry is the executive of a non-profit incorporated entity called the Wesley Foundation and a member of the staff of First United Methodist Church in Conway, Arkansas. The director supervises Wesley interns and reports to the Wesley Advisory Board and Conway FUMC’s Pastor of Discipleship.
The Wesley at Conway is a ministry to the higher education community, serving students, faculty, and staff, with the hope of cultivating faithful and fruitful persons who are being transformed and equipped to bring God’s light and love into the world. The ministry is open to all college-aged persons in the area.
In conjunction with an Advisory Board, the Director will:
- Provide visionary leadership for the implementation of faithful and fruitful campus ministry.
- Organize, develop, and implement student-oriented programs and processes for discipling in areas of
ministry that include, but are not limited to, worship, student leadership development, spiritual growth,
and community service. - Mentor and supervise Wesley interns and other students engaged in leadership, as well as those who are
discerning gifts for ministry. - Schedule and promote the work of campus ministry in other congregations, especially within the District.
- Identify and implement best practices and policy for fulfilling the Wesley at Conway’s vision and goals.
- Develop and manage the annual operating budget and raise funds for ministry, including grant writing.
- Be involved in campus events across multiple college campuses, both in Conway and the surrounding
region. - Be a good representative of the United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church by teaching
and promoting United Methodist theology and practice.
As a staff member of the church, the Director will:
- Attend staff meetings as determined in relationship with their direct supervisor.
- Promote and help cultivate young adult ministries within the church.
- Manage and report any issues related to the Wesley House property to church leadership.
- Contribute to the general work of the staff, participating in all-church events and using gifts for ministry as deemed appropriate.
- Model the core vision, mission, and values of this ministry, the local church, and the Conference.
Position type and compensation:
This is a full-time, FLSA-excempt position. Salary is commensurate with experience; a general range for the position is $50,000-$60,000, with no additional benefits available.
