Take one look, and you will quickly discover that Refuge is dedicated to helping youth experience a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ!

Worship

Worship

Spirit Led & Passionate

Worship describes those times we gather deliberately seeking to encounter God in Christ. God uses worship to transform lives, heal wounded souls, renew hope, shape decisions, provoke change, inspire compassion, and bind people to one another.

Community

Community

Faith Based & Connectional

Encouraging each other through affirmation is crucial to the growing process of a group.  When a youth’s peers compliment them, they feel more confident in their self in relation to the group and can share deeper feelings.  When friends tell a peer that they appreciate them.

Faith

Faith

Growing & Deepening

Through the personal practice of Faith Development, we do the soul work that connects us to others, immerses us in God’s Word, and positions us to grow in grace and mature in Christ. Faith is built many ways during the weekend by worship, fellowship, and outdoor adventure.

Shepherd Of The Ozarks

A Christ-centered camping and conference ministry.

Shepherd of the Ozarks is a year-round 435 acre Christian Conference/Retreat center located in the heart of the Ozark Mountains in Northwest Arkansas.

Here you can enjoy many activities including hiking, exploring, horseback riding, swimming, fishing, floating, snorkeling, volleyball, frisbee golf, and the extreme adventure sports of high challenge Ropes Course, Wilderness Paintball, as well as visiting the petting zoo and watching the natural wildlife.

Nestled in this wilderness setting are nine luxurious log-cabin-style lodges varying in decor and size to sleep from 10 to a group of 400 people. All of them include kitchens, meeting spaces, private bedrooms, and bunk areas. Massive rock fireplaces, rocking chairs on the porch and comfortable beds invite you to come away for refreshment and relaxation.

What We All

EXPERIENCED

Fox & Foal

Worship Leaders

Music is the intersection of feeling and thought. Worship is our response to who God is and what He’s done for us. We hope the songs we sing— and the songs we write —will take those feelings and thoughts, and call you to respond to God in your own way. Whether that response is something new, or something familiar, The Spirit of God is always moving.

Dave and Brooke first began singing together at the U of A Wesley college ministry in 2015, and have continued to lead worship together for the past 4 years. After a few years of serving on staff at Central UMC in Fayetteville, AR, they began writing songs together inspired by the local congregation and the work of God in their church. After encouragement and affirmation from pastors and leadership in their songwriting, they began to cultivate and grow a catalog of songs they have introduced to the church.

Devon Arredondo

Devon has had a strong call to see people through long term discipleship, so he went on the receive a degree in Pastoral Ministry at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in 2011. It’s not just for youth

As an adult, you are invaluable to the success of Refuge!

Yes, we will need your help supervising activities during downtime, making sure lights out happens in each cabin at an appropriate time and making sure the youth attendees are where they are supposed to be at all times. But we also want you to experience God in the space that is being created. We hope you will and want you to participate in the activities and worship alongside the youth from across the connection. If you have any questions, please contact our CCYM Coordinator Zach Schrick zach.schrick@arumc.org.
