Exploring Your Call

In the Arkansas Conference, we don’t expect every clergy member to lead their congregation in the same way. We don’t produce “cookie cutter” clergy that never step outside their ministerial comfort zones. We encourage experimentation in order to reach both current members of the United Methodist Church and those seeking to learn what our church is all about.

Top 5 Reasons to Come to Arkansas

Our Conference has a clear mission: to create vital congregations that make disciples of Jesus Christ, who make disciples equipped to transform lives, communities, and the world.

Arkansas has the highest percentage of young clergy of any Conference in the United Methodist Church.

We also have a growing number of female clergy – over 200, to be precise – who serve in both small and large congregations across the state.

If you love the outdoors, you’ll love “The Natural State.” We have rivers, lakes, mountains, and valleys; all within a few hundred miles of each other!

We’re constantly growing and adapting to the world around us, and we encourage our clergy to get outside the walls of the church and experiment with disciple making.

The Arkansas Conference of the UMC is committed to creating vital congregations that make disciples of Jesus Christ, who make disciples equipped to transform lives, communities and the world. We have a variety of contexts that enable pastors to thrive. Let us know about young people in your local churches and ministry areas who you feel like might be discerning a calling into either lay or ordained ministry.  This will add them to a database so they will receive newsletters, invitations to events and programs and other opportunities to participate in the discernment process.
