During the height of Covid, my son, Nick, made the intentional decision to only ‘check’ the news a couple of times a day. He did this because he decided all the noise, bad news and non-stop focus on Covid was something he did not need to lead his best life. It was a smart decision. Covid may have subsided, but there’s still a lot of noise. In fact, it seems to be getting louder and louder and more and more strident. So much so, it’s like a war and people are either friends or foes. And if you are a foe, any kind of attack is fair game. The ongoing simplistic, hateful and unrelenting communication in our world has gotten out of control, and it’s time to call it what it is: sin. And that means it’s time to repent. And the best way I know to do that is to stop listening to all the noise and start listening a whole lot more to Jesus.
