I’m a list keeper. I update my ‘to do’ lists for both work and my personal life every single morning. As I completed that daily exercise this morning, I realized how long my list has grown. It’s not because I’m not doing anything, it’s that there are more things to get done than I’ve got done. And that tends to make me go into OCD Overdrive to try to complete as many tasks as possible. Which means, it can be tempting to short change prayer, reading and reflection time in the interests of taking care of business. But I’ve discovered something. The more overwhelmed I’m convinced I am, the more I need to put “spend time with God” at the top of my ‘to do’ list. After all, that is the most important business of all to take care of.
