During Karen’s recovery from surgery, I’ve been head chef in the Mueller household. Last night, I had no idea what to cook because the menu planning ended on Monday night and I hadn’t been to the grocery store. So I looked in the pantry and the fridge, and saw a little of this and a little of that: a half-filled container of pesto, some Romano and Parmesan cheese, half a bag of spinach and a few tomatoes, a couple of chicken breasts, and one-third of a box of pasta. Now I don’t know how or why, but that suddenly sparked an idea and I knew what I was going to cook. It’s amazing what a hearty dose of inspiration will do with a bunch of leftovers. But that’s nothing compared to how the Holy Spirit can take your life experiences, talents, skills and spiritual gifts, and inspire you to do something great for God when you don’t think you have much to offer. In fact, I wonder what it would be like if you woke up every morning and said out loud, “What’s cooking today, Holy Spirit?”
