Last week, Karen and I spent a few days enjoying Christmas in New York City. One of our stops was at the Rockefeller Center Plaza to see the world famous Christmas Tree. It is indeed magnificent, standing nearly 79 feet tall with approximately 50,000 lights. On top of the tree is a star that stands in stark contrast to the small colored lights on the rest of the tree. This Swarovski star weighs 900 pounds, is over nine feet in diameter and contains 70 spikes and 3,000,000 crystals. While I’m not sure what others felt as they looked at it, my reaction was immediate and crystal clear. Just like long ago, that star on top of a Christmas tree leads to the manger where the mystery, joy and hope of the birth of the Son of God is always found.
