This is the second in the series about the Lay Leadership of the Arkansas Conference. Each of our Board of Laity members bring unique gifts to their service to the church and stand ready to share those gifts with the Conference. I am pleased to introduce these two new members of the Board of Laity.
Barbara Prowell Jones
Barbara is the newly installed Lay Leader of the Southwest District and a member of Haven United Methodist Church in Hot Springs Arkansas where she serves as Church Administrator, Chairperson of the Finance Committee, and member of the Praise Team. She is a product of The United Methodist Church and one who has benefited from the dedication and commitment of the Laity involved Ministries.
In her youth, she participated in acting in plays, MYF, and camping at Aldersgate. She enjoyed serving in worship as a Junior Usher and as a Junior Choir member. Going into the community to sing for Nursing Home residents, as well as sick and shut-in church members was a wonderful way for her to share her love for Jesus. All of this, along with Trick or Treating for UNICEF to support that global mission contributed to her personal growth.
Lessons were learned from Sunday School and Bible Study at church and she experienced life preparation at Philander Smith College. Barbara says that through the continuing education programs and ministries of The United Methodist Church her understanding of Christian faith, discipleship and service were formed making her the person she is today.

Cathy Hall
Cathy Hall believes that a call to the ministry of the laity is what led her to such meaningful work under the Methodist “umbrella” through the years. She joined The Methodist Foundation of Arkansas as Office & Hospitality Manager in January, 2020. Previously she was with the Arkansas Annual Conference Center for Vitality, where she worked to empower laity and lay-clergy teams through leadership initiatives designed to develop their gifts and implement change in their mission fields. She has also served in roles at Camp Aldersgate, Mount Eagle and Hendrix College. A lifelong Methodist, Cathy resides in Little Rock, is a grateful and proud mom to two grown children and YaYa to two grandchildren.
