Yesterday was October. Today is November. While that may only be a difference of one day, it may seem like a lot more than just one day to you. That’s because something happens once November arrives. Thanksgiving and Christmas suddenly seem imminent. Which causes your anxiety and stress levels to rise. Which in turn means your anxiety and stress get transferred to others. Which means you go into ‘get it done’ mode. Which means the holidays morph into something to survive rather than something to enjoy. And while you may not be subject to this dynamic when it comes to holidays, I bet there’s a pretty good chance it’s at work in some way in your life. So regardless of who you are, focus on God’s gift of today. Embrace it fully. Love those around you. Follow Jesus. And while you may have to think about the future, don’t the future rob you of today.
