When I was a child, one of the hardest things I had to do was wait. Waiting for school to be out, and then waiting for it to start again because I was bored. Waiting for our annual summer family vacation at the beach. Waiting for Halloween. And, of course, the hardest wait of all – waiting for Christmas. Waiting can still be difficult for me because, well, why wait when I actually can be doing what it is I’m waiting to do. But I’ve learned a valuable lesson. It’s when you’re waiting – especially impatiently waiting – that the Holy Spirit is at work healing hurts, growing you as Jesus’ disciple, maturing you in the fruits of the spirit and taking you into a deeper relationship with God. So if you’re struggling right now having to wait, take a deep breath and discover how the Holy Spirit is at work turning your uncomfortable waiting into a wonderful gift.
