The harder I try to make my own way in life, the more I realize it’s a journey filled with folly, frustration and failure. Not because I can’t accomplish anything. I can, and often very successfully. But because I’m constantly trying to do something I can never do – prove I’m worthy. Jesus came to help me experience that I am worthy just the way I am because of a grace that is unleashed in the most unlikely of ways – the death of the Son of God on a cross. This kind of love may be unfathomable, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that it’s a gift Jesus freely offers me. And its whole point is that it’s the starting point for anything and everything in life.
