Sadly, our nation’s polarization has infected the Body of Christ so much we often are divided before we ever come together to worship, study Scripture, share the Sacrament of Holy Communion, grow deeper in discipleship and prepare to engage the world outside the doors of the church with the Good News of the Gospel. This is a heartbreaking scandal. So what can I do? What can you do? What can we do? We can look at every single person – whether we agree with them or not politically or theologically – and say every single time we see them, “God loves you just as much as me. Jesus died for your salvation just as much as mine. The Holy Spirit is at work in you just as much as in me.” For Jesus, whether we are willing to do this is far more important than any difference it might make.
