Today I am weary. And I suspect you are, as well. It’s not just from staying up too late waiting for election results. It’s from a relentless litany that has continued without a break: COVID-19, never-ending political campaigns, deep polarization in our nation, racism that has permeated every part of our lives, the deep suffering of families devastated economically by the pandemic, hurricanes and wildfires, and people you know struggling with the fallout of all of this as they experience depression, addiction and a rising divorce rate. All of this is real. All of this together is overwhelming. Yet there is Good News. And it comes from Jesus. And he offers it to you, 28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-29 NIV)
