What would you do if you could do anything in the world? End childhood hunger? Reconcile with someone you’ve been estranged from? Change hardened hearts into compassionate hearts? Bring about a more just world? Heal someone who is sick? Your list probably includes lots of things, many of which you think are too big for you to do. But that’s not true, because you can always do something about something. It may be taking the first step in seeking reconciliation. Or helping at your church’s food pantry. Or speaking up when you hear a racist remark. Or reaching out to pray with someone who is sick. Remember, Jesus isn’t asking you to fix the world’s problems – he just wants you to act like you believe he is.
