Your spouse sees you in many different ways, sometimes all at the same time. A good friend sees particular sides of you. A co-worker still others. A person you encounter on a bad day yet another. And you see yourself in lots of ways depending on the moment. How others (and you) see you is based to a great extent on the assumptions they have about you; assumptions often so deeply buried they (and you) cannot even name them. God has assumptions about you, too. God assumes you are worthy because you are created in God’s image. God assumes you are so important that God has sent his only son, Jesus, to live, die and be resurrected for you. And God assumes you are so precious that God never gives up on you. All of which means God never stops loving you – even on your very worst days.
