“Waiting Saturday”

Jesus has been executed, and Joseph of Arimathea has placed his body in his own personal tomb. The women who have faithfully followed Jesus since the beginning go home to prepare the spices and perfume for his body. But the Sabbath begins, so they rest and wait – an agonizing wait filled with grief, heartache, unanswered questions and a desire to properly anoint Jesus’ body for burial so life can get back to normal. You also are in a period of waiting brought about by COVID-19 – a difficult wait because you are separated from those you love, worried about your finances and longing for life to get back to normal. The women wait not knowing what will happen the next day. The women spent the Sabbath waiting to finish Jesus’ burial – you wait knowing that resurrection is coming!
