In the midst of ongoing injustice in our nation’s justice system, a great deal was on the line in the Dallas trial of Amber Guyger, a white former police officer, accused of killing Botham Jean, an unarmed African-American. She was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Many people thought this was a remarkable, and unexpected, outcome. But then something even more remarkable occurred. Brandt Jean, Botham’s younger brother, publicly forgave Guyger and hugged her before she was taken off to prison. This was a powerful reminder of how God’s love brings about remarkable Godly moments. It also raises a challenging question with which Jesus’ followers must wrestle. How does God want to bring this kind of remarkable Godly moment into your life?
