There are times you’re tired from family responsibilities, drained because of a painful situation you’re facing, stressed because of work, or overwhelmed by all the things you think you should be doing. In other words, you’re exhausted – physically, emotionally and spiritually. You may ignore it and just keep going, spend more time relaxing, or do your best to get more sleep. And sometimes these things work. But many times they don’t. That’s because exhaustion is often a very important reminder that you need to rest in the Lord. Of course, resting in the Lord isn’t a free pass to laziness. It’s an invitation to do some of the most important work you’ll ever do – praying, reading scripture, reflecting on the gift of life, getting in touch with God’s priorities and allowing God’s love to re-energize you. So why do it? You’ll be rested, revived and renewed in the best ways possible.
