It’s easy to believe that God gives you hope. Until, that is, you discover things going from bad to worse to tragic. But you’re still not ready to give up. In fact, you hope with everything you’ve got. And then it hits you. The one you love with cancer will die. The addict has chosen alcohol over everything else in life. Your marriage is not go to be healed. And you’re faced with the painful reality that you no longer have hope. But it’s in that moment of hopelessness that you discover something that’s been there all along – true hope. Not in things working out the way you want – but in God. Not in fixing what’s broken – but in God. Not in living happily ever after – but in God. And when you finally get this, you suddenly discover hope springing up within you. And it’s hope you can trust. Because it’s growing out of the heart of God.
