April Fools’ Day. It’s a fun and harmless holiday that allows the prankster in you to run wild for a day, and the grownup in you to not take yourself quite so seriously. It’s a very important reminder of something you probably should remember all the time: you often take yourself far more seriously than you should and fail to take God nearly as seriously as you should. So fool everyone today by taking God’s unconditional love seriously, God’s healing love as fact, God’s forgiving love as the way things are, God’s transforming love as absolutely reliable, God’s eternal love as ultimate reality and God’s hope-inducing love as power. Sure, you’ll still be a human being who falls short, makes mistakes and hurts those you love the most. But you’ll also become someone who does the most important things in life with newfound passion and excellence.
