Director of Communications – First United Methodist Church, Springdale

ACCOUNTABILITY      

This ministry position is directly supervised by the Associate Pastor of Congregational Care and is accountable to the Senior Pastor and Pastor/Parish Relations Committee.

QUALIFICATIONS       

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or public relations (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Canva.
  • Proficiency in relevant social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and website development.
  • Ability to work independently with creativity, self-motivation, and dedication to task.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Commitment and energy to the ministry of administration in a large church environment.
  • Team-oriented attitude with the ability to buy in to a larger organizational mission.

DESCRIPTION

The Director of Communications is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of First Church’s communications, publicity, & outreach strategies. The communications needs of the church encompass print, online, and social media elements, for which the Director of Communications provides oversight and direction. The Director of Communications will also exhibit the highest standards of moral character and will provide an exemplary model of Christian discipleship to the First Church congregation. In addition, the Director of Communications will carry out ministry in full accordance with the doctrines and discipline of the United Methodist Church as found in the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church.
