Worship Arts Minister – FUMC Siloam Springs

The Worship Arts Minister at First UMC is expected to serve in many capacities and have experience in several areas, including but not limited to:

  • Building, leading, and evaluating contemporary and traditional worship services
  • Leading/conducting a band, handbell choir, and chancel choir
  • Recruiting, training, and maintaining volunteers in Worship Arts Ministry
  • Working knowledge of Planning Center Online, ProPresenter 6, and basic concepts of audio technology
  • Developing and coordinating special services throughout the liturgical year (Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Christmas Eve, etc.)
  • Building contacts and relationships with music ministry leaders in community and adjacent area.
  • Encouraging and developing the congregation in musical ability and Christian faith


  • Build and provide leadership over contemporary and traditional worship services.
  • Consult with the Senior Pastor to ensure that the musical and technical aspects of the service advance the worship theme.
  • Oversee song selection, media preparation and presnetation, sound and lighting enhancements, visual arts, and coordination of all instrumentalists, vocalists, & speakers.
  • Recruit, schedule, and coach worship volunteers (band, choirs, ushers, servers, A/V, etc.)
  • Leading/scheduling rehearsals (band, handbell choir, chancel choir)
  • Evaluate weekly worship services and colloborate with Senior Pastor on creative elements for future worship services
  • Build ProPresenter slides for contemporary and traditional worship services
  • Set up sanctuary for Sunday services (requires basic A/V knowledge)
  • Create displays related to the liturgical calendar or current sermon series
  • Assist as needed in worship experiences outside weekly worship context (this may include weddings, funerals, special events, etc.)
  • Establish annual goals for worship ministry and evaluate attainment of those goals.
  • Manage the Worship Arts Ministry budget
  • Chair worship team/committee to plan and resource for worship and seasonal activities.
  • Collaborate in a ministry team setting that includes the senior pastor, minister of children and youth, communications assistant, administrative assistant, and accompanist.


  • Bachelors Degree in Music Education, Worship Arts, or Voice and Performance highly desired, or relevant ministry experience
  • Strong Christian faith and a heartfelt passion for Worship Arts Ministry
  • Capable of leading worship services and rehearsals
  • Comfortable selecting music for contemporary and traditional services
  • Basic conducting experience
  • Basic A/V knowledge
  • Eagerness to work with and encourage others at First UMC
