It hardly seems possible it’s been so long since the incomprehensible happened and our nation was attacked, thousands perished and we faced the cruel reality of evil unleashed.
Today we remember our promise never to forget, cherish those who were lost, and remember those days when heroism flourished, the world stood with us and we were at our best.
At the same time, however, we also confess that we too often have forgotten, have been hardened by ongoing terrorism, violence and hatred, and no longer are at our best.
So, Lord, let us boldly hold hope, diligently work for true peace and unceasingly build bridges of understanding by proclaiming, sharing and living Your love in Jesus Christ that literally changes everything about everything forever.
May it be so!
