A Sunday Prayer 6/4/17

Lord of All That Is,

The terrorist attacks last night in London make clear once again just how staggering the suffering, pain and evil is in our world. It is so overwhelming I must confess that I sometimes wonder where You are while all of this is going on.

Yet even as I wonder, I see You time after time smack dab in the middle of it through Your people. Not extraordinary saints, just ordinary people who bring Your grace, healing and hope, often at great personal sacrifice.

I stand in awe of them, give thanks for them and pray that I will become like them. Not as a saint, just as an ordinary person so changed by Your love that I reach out and open my heart, arms and wallet to those in need – especially if it comes at great personal sacrifice.

This – and so much more – is my hope and my prayer because of Your promise in Jesus.

Amen.
