The Morning After the Election

As I write these words, I have no idea who the next President of the United States will be. Indeed, it is likely to be hours until the winner is determined. But I do know this. Some of you will be ecstatic with the outcome and others of you will despair, and this is exactly why it is so important to be clear about several critically important things. First, we are blessed to live in a democracy in which we get to choose our leaders, and that is true regardless of how you feel about the outcome of this particular election. Second, we have a grand tradition of accepting the voice of the people and having a peaceful transition of power, and that is true regardless of how you feel about the outcome of this particular election. Third, after a contentious election, it is now time to pull together because that is our only hope as a nation, and that is true regardless of how you feel about the outcome of this particular election. Fourth, and most importantly, Jesus is still Savior and Lord, and that is true regardless of how you feel about the outcome of this particular election. In other words, our future is still a hope-filled one, regardless of how you feel about the outcome of this particular election!
