New Haven UMC Hensley, just south of Little Rock, lost its building to fire on July 20. They planned a groundbreaking for their new facility on May 31, but the ceremony was canceled because of heavy spring rains. Construction moves on, though, whenever the weather allows. The church expects to be in its new building by August.

Southside UMC Batesville lost its building to a Nov. 23 fire, but they are making progress toward rebuilding, as well. On June 7, members of the congregation, alongside their district superintendent, the Rev. Susan Ledbetter, right, turned the ceremonial first shovels of dirt for the construction of their new building.
