Ninth annual event benefits Methodist Family Health

The ninth annual Walk for Children and Families benefiting Methodist Family Health will be held Friday, Aug. 7, at the Big Dam Bridge over the Arkansas River. Participants of all ages are encouraged to walk over the bridge and back, or any distance they wish. Registration opens at 5:30 p.m., with the Walk at 6:30 p.m.

Cook’s Landing Park on the North Little Rock side of the bridge is the staging area for the event. Cost is $20 for individuals and $50 for families. Participants are encouraged to register in advance at www.methodistfamily.org.

The festive, family-friendly event features live music, plus free pizza and Frosty Treats ice cream, and T-shirts for all participants. Parking will be available at Crystal Hill Elementary School, with a free shuttle to the Big Dam Bridge.

The annual event has in the past drawn more than 800 participants and raised tens of thousands of dollars to aid Methodist Family Health’s work in providing comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral healthcare to children and families in Arkansas. Methodist Family Health cares for more than 2,400 children and their families daily through its 60-bed hospital, residential treatment centers, therapeutic group homes, community- and school-based counseling clinics, an emergency shelter and other specialized programs.
