Billie “Bill” Cooper, 1924-2014

Billie “Bill” Charlene Thacker Cooper, 89, of Little Rock, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014. 

She was born on May 12, 1924, to the late Charlie and Bevie Thacker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Little Rock.

Bill is survived by her husband, the Rev. Joel Aubrey Cooper, a retired United Methodist elder who served in the Little Rock and North Arkansas Conferences; three sons: the Rev. Chris Cooper and his wife, Kathy, of Little Rock; Marc Cooper  and his wife, Donna, of Johnson City, Tenn.; and Clay Cooper and his wife, Cindi, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and a daughter-in-law, Anita Ladensack and her husband, Joe, of Phoenix, Ariz. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Emily Hortman, Matthew Cooper, Josh Cooper, Charlie Cooper, Casy Brian and Andee Parks; and her great-granddaughters: Lillian Cooper, Caraline Brian, Catherine Mac Hortman, Ruby Cooper and Cadence Cooper. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Cooper, and two grandsons, John Cooper and Wesley Cooper.

A celebration of Bill’s life was held Wednesday, June 18, 2014, in the Cokesbury Center at First United Methodist Church, 723 Center Street in Little Rock. 

The family requests that memorials be made to the Bill and Joel Cooper Duke Divinity School Seminary Scholarship Fund at the United Methodist Foundation of Arkansas, 5300 Evergreen, Little Rock, AR 72205.
